My failure in the Christian life prompted the writing of my book, A Huddle for Righteousness and the development of my Christnyou Ministry! One day, I read the words of Zechariah the prophet:

"The Lord rebukes you O Satan! Even the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you. Is this not a brand that has been plucked from the fire. With one single statement of rebuttal God silenced all of heaven against Joshua."

Well after picking myself up off the floor, I then realized that the reformer Martin Luther had a very similar experience when he was reading the very first chapter of Romans. He too was embroiled in a religious system that was corrupt to the core and God wanted there to be some changes. These corrupt practices of the church were keeping men and women from entering the kingdom of God and his righteousness. They had been selling indulgences for the forgiveness of their sins in much the same way as we pay tithes and offerings to rebuke the devourer.

After bouncing checks to pay my tithes, a great man of God asked me a very specific and direct question concerning the practices of my church. He asked me "Why was I allowing my pastor to put me under the law of God rather than the grace of God?" Good Question!
I had been too busy to really give it any thought; all I wanted to be was pleasing to God; and the pastors are men of God so as a result I should be obedient to what they are telling me about the things of God. The ultimate reason for the writing of this book was the need to address spiritual blindness in matters of law and grace. Herein we possess the keys to the kingdom of God. God has given us grace to live by and not laws. That is when I realized that the laws of the Bible were given not to be kept but to be broken!
